VIK MUNIZ
Con motivo del Seminario Artescrituras 2: Cruces contemporáneos entre arte y literatura en La Casa Encendida, Vik Muniz (São Paulo, 1961) visita Madrid para dar una conferencia sobre su trabajo.
Esta conferencia, presentada por Javier Montes, se realizará el próximo martes 4 de octubre a las 19 horas.

Al dia siguiente, el miércoles 5 de octubre a las 20:30 horas, se presentará dentro del Festival de ideas VIVAMÉRICA en la Casa América de Madrid, el film Lixo Extraordinário / Wasteland de Lucy Walker, João Jardim y Karen Harley sobre el trabajo de Vik Muniz en uno de los vertederos más grandes del mundo: Jardim Gramacho en Río de Janeiro.

Next day, on Wednesday October 5th at 20:30 hours the film Lixo Extraordinário / Wasteland by Lucy Walker, João Jardim and Karen Harley, about the work of Vik Muniz on one of the world's largest landfills: Jardim Gramacho in Rio de Janeiro will be shown at the Festival of ideas VIVAMÉRICA at Casa America in Madrid.

Vik Muniz (São Paolo,1961) inaugura en el Museu Colecção Berardo de Lisboa una exposición titulada VIK, su mayor retrospectiva hasta la fecha, donde se podrán ver más de un centenar de las obras más representativas de su trayectoria artística. Al trabajar con materiales no convencionales, Vik Muniz imprime su toque personal en sus obras fotográficas, realizadas por medio de técnicas y materiales muy diversos como papel recortado, chatarra, chocolate y algodón.
La relación entre los materiales utilizados y la referencia a la historia del arte clásico, originó obras tan emblemáticas como la réplica de la famosa Mona Lisa de Leonardo da Vinci, hecho con mantequilla de cacahuete y mermelada.

Vik Muniz (São Paolo, 1961) opens at the Museu Colecção Berardo in Lisbon an exhibition entitled VIK, the largest retrospective to date, where you can see more than one hundred of his most representative works of his career. By working with unconventional materials, Vik Muniz print his personal touch in his photographic works, performed by techniques and materials as diverse as paper cutting, scrap, chocolate and cotton.
The relationship between the materials used and the reference to the history of classical art works originated emblematic pieces as the replica of the famous Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, made with peanut butter and jam.

Primera exposición en solitario que el NCA de Tokyo le dedica a Vik Muniz. Bajo el título "Pictures of Paper", Vik Muniz continua su investigación a partir de la construcción de imágenes con pequeños trozos de papel. En esta ocasión tomando prestados los motivos locales bajo una estética japonesa. 
First solo exhibition that the NCA of Tokyo devotes to Vik Muniz. Under the title "Pictures of Paper", Vik Muniz continues his research from the construction of images with small pieces of paper. On this occasion by borrowing some local motifs and following a Japanese aesthetics.

El pasado 8 de julio durante los Encuentros de Arles, Vik Muniz presentó el documental Waste Land dirigido por Lucy Walker.
Si no lo viste, no te pierdas la ocasión que te presenta el MOMA de Nueva York el próximo día 15 de julio.
El documental Waste Land relata el viaje de Muniz a Jardim Gramacho a las afueras de Río de Janeiro. El considerado mayor vertedero del mundo, le sirve a Muniz no sólo, como suministro de material, sino que en su ya demostrada preocupación social, se vincula a aquellos que conviven día a día con la realidad de este vertedero para compartir mutuamente la experiencia de crear una fotografía a la manera propia del artista. La directora, Lucy Walker acompaña este proceso mostrando la cara más amable y solidaría del Arte.
